2021 in Review & New Beginnings

2022 is here and before the year gets away from me I wanted to share new life updates from my previous post. Though 2021 had its rocky terrain (on top of the continuous spiral of COVID-19 variants), with my disappointing job search, dealing with IP theft (another post for another day), I am more than grateful to say that my loved ones and I made it through with our health, and I with new professional opportunities. As a freelancer, I was honored to have the chance to direct, film, and edit a long-form documentary, Nuestro Oak Cliff, in partnership with the Dallas Mexican American Historical League. It was my first commissioned documentary production and such a special experience to learn from and connect with a new aspect of local history. The fall of 2021 was a great season of evolution—especially October. I finally received my LLC for Blacktree Productions and happily accepted a new full time position with Black Public Media as their Engagement Manager. In the end, 2021 was a blessing as I finished my chapter of school and begun a new chapter of my career. In 2022, I look forward to putting into motion a lot of projects ideas that I have been in the wings (West Dallas AR especially) and continuing to develop my creative and community networks.
